Futa is a traditional pump-drill used on shell beads from the Solomon Islands. This device imparts a rapid rotating motion to a rod that is used to drill the hole on a shell bead and was purchased by the Museum of the Institute of Ethnology with the assistance of Associate Research Professor Pei-yi Guo, for the exhibition "Anthropologists' Money Bag".
