河源仁濟醫院入口 Entrance of the Honyen Hospital

Founded by Dr. Vortisch Hermann in 1907, the hospital introduced Western medical science into Hakka regions. Though initially rejected, the mission hospital gained acceptance by the local population, and eventually a private medical practice was also established, demonstrating the positive impact of Western medicine on the locality. The mission hospital was the predecessor of the Heyuan People's Hospital, and its former site is now the location of Heyuan City Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
